That sucks. For your sanity you may want to cut your craigslist time as well.

I find it interesting that they say the maximum speed for each gear. I guess no rev limiter? I find it hard to believe that you would ever want to go over 24 mph anyway.

This was along side the road. I couldn’t not stop.

Not sure why they felt the need to post that information. David would probably know.

Yeah, seems like you could feel the point where the revs are getting too high. Maybe the top gear speed is needed but the rest you would change up before that.

I would stop too. If I don’t have to be anywhere, I often do stop for interesting things on the side of the road, such as that illegal Silvia and that J10.

Did you have to take a pay cut because coronavirus? I am fully expecting that, along with a reduced contribution to my teacher’s pension.

Insultant, eh? What field? What percentage? Good to be employed though.

I believe those are the suggested maximum speeds to be sending power to the front axle. I cannot fathom why you would, and I’m not sure that it is even possible, be attempting 60 in a situation where four wheel drive is required. I’m not as familiar with pre-AMC Jeeps but a lot of older farm equipment has similar info panels. Either way, I love everything about the this, especially those info panels. The factory to farm illustration is to damn  cool . If it passes the magnet test it looks like a great deal.

It is quite a dirty and polluting factory, but those diagrams and info charts are just too cool, as you said. I would not want to be going over 25 in such a situation and I am not convinced I would even want to attempt 60 with the transfer case di sabled. I’ve never even sat in one but they never struck me as the most stable looking vehicle at speed.

I don’t say this often, but that Jeep seems to be worth every bit of it’s asking price to me. I love it. I almost feel like I should salute it.

If I look half that good at 75....I’ll look 50x better than I have at any point in my life.

Yeah, in  normal times I’d be trying to figure out how I could swing it. So fantastic.

Well I work on shows, no idea when shows will be made again. My medical is based on hours and I have my hours bank maxed and the union worked out an extension so we have maybe six months. After that who knows. I will get unemployment since our union companies pay into it, in this industry I file for any week I get off so I was set up when it happened. But who knows how long this could last if idiots listen to the orange idiot and we get more delays instead of listening to actual doctors! I rent parking spaces, so I would have to give those up first if it gets bad. Then do I liquidate the IRA or sell a car? I have no idea what will happen.

Tell us who did it and we'll arrange the local auto shop to make their car 'forget' it has brake fluid in it at a critical time.

I’m definitely trying to maintain perspective, but that’s now three great Jeeps that have popped up this spring that I would have loved to have. I guess I should take that as a sign that when things are back to “normal” there’ll be more.

I’d actually like to do something else for work but I don’t know how to do anything in the civilian world other than what I have spent the last seven years learning to do. I don’t think I could sit at a desk either. My friend has about fifteen flat fender jeeps in need of restoration, I’d grab an MB for a project if I had a garage and a place to put it.

Where is that in Indiana? May need to make a quarantine trip south.

Sorry about the pay cut - sucks.

Clean late ‘47 CJ2A. Looks like it’s got an aftermarket tub, windshield frame, and hood. Not surprising cause they are super rust prone.  Data plates should be all in a row. ID tag should be under hood. It also has the sketch steering (that stayed around way too long). Just trying to make you feel better!

Weird, just saw the 1945 part . Has the 45- early(?)   46 separate tags, but the serial is a 47. It doesn’t have the column shift or the ax and shovel mount on the tub. The repops don’t have the mounts IIRC , and may always have the floor shift cutout... But it does look like it has the full floater rear axle (went into 47 though). Very Jeep- like mix/match of features lol.

I did think that serial number seemed awfully high for a 45. Tell me about the full floater rear axle.

Actually, you should write a post about this stuff; I know a little history and that they’re sexy as hell, but  beyond that, I’m pretty clueless.
